Spike Sterling's Rush Willys with driver Bobby Martin will make its debut with the one of the premier Pro Mod circuits in action today, the 1320 Warriors of the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association. The event is the "Rumble At the Grove" at Maple Grove Raceway on August 21st. NEOPMA doubles the fun of Pro Mod by running two separate classes, Nitrous/Naturally Aspirated and Blower/Turbo. The Rush Willys fits nicely in the Blower category. "NEOPMA showcases some of the top drivers and cars in the door car world," said Sterling team driver Bobby Martin. "It will be a treat for us to race with them and learn from them. We don't plan to go out there and win right away. We're still in a testing and learning mode. NEOPMA has a reputation for not only being a bunch of great racers, but a group of great, fun-loving people. We'd love to be a part of that. We just want to go out there, introduce ourselves, and make some new friends." This will also be the team's first attempt at quarter mile racing.

Spike Sterling, out of Steubenville OH, has a unique operation. The "Rush" '33 Willys coupe is the first door car ever built by famed dragster builder Mike Spitzer. Power comes from a specially prepared iron block Chevy combination built by Billy Leverentz of Oddy's Automotive. Even the transmission is unique. The Rossler Turbo Glide is a specialized 2-speed Turbo 400 purpose built for high horsepower applications. The driver is the reigning NHRA U.S Nationals Top Alcohol Funny Car Champion. "I like to do things a little different," said Spike, "and sometimes that presents some added challenges. But I'm happy with our progress so far."
